
Dr. Eleni E. Episkopou is a highly experienced anesthesiologist and pain management specialist with over 19 years of expertise at Metropolitan Athens Hospital. She holds certifications as a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) and Certified Interventional Pain Sonologist (CIPS) from the World Institute of Pain (WIP). Additionally, she has been an active examiner for WIP’s CIPS and FIPP exams since 2019.
Dr. Episkopou has played a key role in advancing pain management techniques, particularly in interventional radiology, where she leads the hospital’s Pain Management Section. She has significant experience in managing chronic pain in both cancer and non-cancer patients, employing advanced procedures such as transforaminal and intralaminar injections, cryoneurolysis, and sympathetic neurolysis for complex pain syndromes.
Her academic contributions include serving as a main faculty member at Pain School International and a lecturer at Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical University in Hungary. She has also assisted the University Clinic for pain management at Athens Medical University.
Dr. Episkopou is recognized for her expertise in ultrasound-guided interventional pain procedures and has organized educational workshops on innovative pain management techniques. She has contributed to national and international congresses and is actively involved in shaping policies on pain management within medical councils.
Currently, she is organizing the Interventional Radiology Pain and Regenerative Medicine Unit at Metropolitan Athens Hospital
