Dr. Liem, born in Leiden, The Netherlands, is a renowned specialist in anesthesiology and pain management. He graduated from the Free University College of Medicine in Amsterdam and completed his residency at St Antonius Hospital, Utrecht. Board-certified by the Dutch Society of Anesthesiology, Dr. Liem has extensive experience in interventional pain procedures and neurostimulator implants, with a career spanning over four decades.
He previously led the Pain Unit at St Antonius Hospital and since 2016 consults at Maastricht University Medical Center+ and in 2022 at Amsterdam University Hospital. Dr. Liem is a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice with the World Institute of Pain, founder of the Benelux Neuromodulation Society, and has served as Treasurer of the International Neuromodulation Society. He earned his PhD in 2016 from Erasmus University Rotterdam and is currently an associate professor at Airlangga University, Surabaya, Indonesia, and a consultant at St. Carolus Hospital, Indonesia.
